Therapy can be beneficial by building upon your inner strengths while simultaneously improving your everyday experiences. Though we use a range of modalities, we work from the understanding that thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected. For example, we may target unhelpful thinking patterns that will then have a positive impact on feelings and behaviours.
Please revisit us regularly, as our team will also be expanding to include more services, groups, and workshops.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that may become problematic in our lives. Whether you struggle with these, other emotions, or you have a formal diagnosis such as (but not limited to) Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Selective Mutism, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or suffer from self-harm/suicidal ideations, we can help. Through counseling and treatment, we can help you gain motivation, perspective, and joy in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances or life events. Anxiety, fear, uncomfortable or unpleasant thoughts and body sensations, feeling numb, disconnected, and hopelessness are a few symptoms that often present due to traumatic experiences. We can help you reduce and manage these symptoms while working within a trauma informed approach to counselling.
Parenting and family relationships can be both rewarding and challenging. Therapists and Child and Youth Workers at Pathways are trained to build upon your strengths, and to better understand each member’s pattern of behaviour and the resulting impact on family dynamics. We offer alternate ways to approach and understand patterns of behaviour. We will not only help you cope with challenging relationships, but improve communication skills so that these relationships can thrive. Please revisit us regularly, as our team will also be expanding to include in-home workers.
Relationship counselling is aimed at strengthening an emotional connection with oneself or between two individuals. The couple’s counsellors at Pathways are trained by the Gottman Institute. They will help identify unhelpful relationship patterns while providing tools to enhance communication and understanding with one another to ultimately deepen your emotional connection. Individual counselling can improve your self-esteem and confidence by understanding and challenging deep rooted messages we tell ourselves – sometimes we may subconsciously believe these messages as facts.
Life transitions such as, (but not limited to) changing careers or jobs, separation and divorce, new parenthood, empty nest syndrome, lost loved ones and grief, can all be incredibly challenging! We are here to support you through any transitions to ensure you are equipped to manage unfamiliar pathways along the way, while working towards your desired outcomes.
A Life Coach will help you to succeed. Like therapist, life coaches help you grow and become more self-aware but are not able to treat mental illnesses. Life coaching is designed to help you become more effective, and is what you need when you want to "do better". A life coach's role isn't to give you advice on how to live, but to help you find out how you want to live, keep you inspired to achieve your goals, and hold you accountable as you take action. They can check in and nudge you when you get stuck, blocked, or scared.
Life Coaches are typically not covered under benefits.
